Our prediction for this Championship match:
Queens Park Rangers will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over Hull (3-0) and Middlesbrough (3-2) when they take on Barnsley on Saturday afternoon. The Hoops made a flying start to the season, and it is no wonder the odds for home win have been dropping. Even though midfielder Moses Odubajo is out of contention through suspension, we believe that home win should be considered.
The Tykes, on the other hand, have been having their ups and downs at the start of the season, with the team sharing the spoils with Cardiff, beating Coventry, while losing to Luton. Barnsley are not regarded as good travelers, and given QPR’s thrilling start to the season, we predict that the visitors are going to return home empty-handed. Both Andersen and Morris are out of contention through injuries for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Tom Carroll):
Tom Carroll is a professional English footballer who plays for Swansea City as a midfielder. The 177-cm tall is a product of Tottenham football academy and it has to be noted that he made 27 appearances for Spurs at senior level, scoring one goal. He found the net in a 3-0 win over Norwich City in the 2015/2016 season.
After ending his loan spells with the likes of Leyton Orient, Derby County and Queens Park Rangers, Tom Carroll signed a permanent deal with the Swans in the winter of 2017. Tom Carroll has 17 caps for England U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior team.
His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both left and right midfielder as well. Tom Carroll’s preferred foot is left and his contract with the Welsh outfit should expire on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Barnsley):
Barnsley are an English club nicknamed the Tykes. The club was founded in 1887 and it has to be noted that they spend more seasons in the Championship than any other club in the history. The Tykes played in the Sheffield and District League from 1890, but in 1895 they were part of the Midland League. Barnsley play their home games at Oakwell, the stadium that was built in 1887.
The capacity of the stadium is 23,009 and it was opened back in 1888, just one year after the club’s foundation. The Tykes made it to the FA Cup final in 1910, but Newcastle United proved to be a big catch for the Oakwell outfit in the title game.
Nonetheless, Barnsley won the FA cup trophy in 1912 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Barnsley defeated West Bromwich Albion in the two-legged tie (0-0, 1-0) to clinch the prestigious trophy for the first and only time in their history.
