Our prediction for this Championship match:
Sparkles will be flying when Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town face each other at the legendary Hillsborough on Matchday 6. The Owls are still eyeing their first win of the season and we are positive that they will leave their hearts on the field. Both Mohamed DIaby and Mallik Wilks are out of contention through injuries, while defender Dominic Iorfa should be recalled to the starting XI.
The Tractor Boys, on the other hand, are eyeing a spot in the playoffs and their offensive performance in a 3-2 win over Cardiff City is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of upcoming challenges. Ipswich Town are more of a team than Sheffield Wednesday and even though Hillsborough will be packed on Saturday afternoon, we are tempted to put our money on the visiting side. Freddie Ladapo should be recalled to Ipswich’s starting XI after scoring a brace as a substitute in the last league fixture.
Highlighted Player (Josh Windass):
Born in Hull, England on January 9, 1994, John Windass is a professional footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic. Windass is a product of Huddersfield Town youth academy, but he did not play for the Terriers at senior level.
The 175-cm-tall midfielder began his senior career at Accrington Stanley and after scoring 22 goals in 77 appearances in the league for the club, he moved to Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2016. Two years later Josh Windass joined Wigan Athletic and he has been playing for the DW Stadium outfit ever since. He scored his first Championship goal on September 18, 2018 in a 2-1 win over Hull City.
His main position is attacking midfield, but he is used as both central midfielder and second striker as well. It has to be noted that Josh is the son of former footballer Dean Windass, who played for the likes of Hull City, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bradford City during his professional career.
Highlighted Team (Ipswich):
Ipswich Town are an English football club that was formed in 1878. Portman Road has been the home ground of Ipswich Town since 1894 and the capacity of the venue, which was expanded in 2002, is 30,311. The Tractor Boys compete in the Championship, but they used to play in the English Premier League in the past as well. Ipswich Town last appeared in the elite division in the 2001/2002 season.
Ipswich won the FA Cup in 1978, with the team beating Arsenal (1-0) in the title game. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1981 when they outplayed AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Cup final. It has to be noted that the Tractor Boys have yet to suffer a loss at home ground in the European competitions.
Norwich City are regarded as Ipswich Town’s bitterest rivals and it is well known that the two sides take on each other in the East Anglian derby.
