Our prediction for this Championship match:
Having defeated Rotherham at the weekend, Stoke City will be aiming to keep on climbing the standings when they take on Birmingham City in the Championship round 28. The Potters have been showing signs of improvement of late and, as a result, the odds for home win are dropping. Barring any fresh injury worries, Steven Schumacher is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Millers. Midfielder Junior Tchamadeu is on international duty.
The Blues, meanwhile, failed to win the previous six league matches. Birmingham City have already suffered nine defeats on the road this term and we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling Stoke City’s party at Bet365 Stadium. As for the away team, all Marc Roberts, Ethan Laird, Alfie Chang, and George Hall are out of contention through injuries, while talented midfielder Jordan James should sneak into the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Jack Bonham):
Jack Bonham is a professional footballer who was born in Stevenage on the 14th of September, 1993. The 26-year-old, although having born in England, is an Irish International and has featured for the Republic of Ireland's Under-17 team five times.
At the club level, he began his youth career with Watford and signed his first professional contract in September 2010 at the age of 17. Bonham's first-ever professional appearance came on the 4th of May, 2013 as a substitute against Leeds United in the final game of the 12/13 Championship season.
This appearance marked the 1.92 m standing goalkeeper's only appearance in a Watford shirt. Bonham then went on to play for clubs like Brentford, Carlisle United and Bristol Rovers before eventually joining Gillingham at the start of the 2019 season on a two-year contract. He's since featured nine times for the club and kept two clean sheets.
Highlighted Team (Birmingham City):
Birmingham City are a club located in the city of Birmingham, England. Birmingham City were founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, but the club’s named was changed to Small Heath in 1888. 17 years later they became Birmingham and in 1943 they finally changed their name to Birmingham City.
The Blues welcome their rivals at St. Andrew’s, the stadium that was opened in 1906. Birmingham City compete in the Championship and their fiercest rivals are WBA and Aston Villa. The Blues made it to the FA Cup final twice, but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy. In 1931 they were beaten by their local rivals WBA in the title game (1-2), whilst in 1956 they were outplayed by Manchester City in the title game.
The colour of Birmingham’s home kit is blue with white stripe. Trevor Francis, Gil Merrick, Bob Latchford, Jeff Hall, Alex Govan, Joe Bradford and Christophe Dugarry are notable footballers who played for the St. Andrew’s outfit in the past.
