Our prediction for this Championship match:
WBA welcome Sheffield United to the Hawthorns in what is expected to be an entertaining Championship derby. Following a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, WBA recorded a 3-2 win over Luton to climb to 4th position in the standings. The Baggies have been impressive in front of goal at the start of the season, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Experienced winger Matt Phillips is pushing for a start, whereas all De Castro, Gardner-Hickman, and Snodgrass are out of contention through injuries.
The Blades, on the other hand, have yet to record a win in the 2021/22 Championship campaign. Sheffield United obviously struggle in front of goal; therefore, we do not believe that they are capable of spoiling WBA’s party at the Hawthorns. Oliver McBurnie is widely expected to replace veteran striker Billy Sharp in the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Callum Robinson):
Born in Northampton, Callum Robinson started his career at Aston Villa. Having gone through the youth ranks with the Villans, Robinson was given his first-team debut in 2013. As a product of the Aston Villa academy, Robinson unfortunately never got a chance to prove his worth at the club and ended up playing no less than 4 league appearances during his three-year stay at Villa Park.
Various loan spells – at Preston North End on two occasions and Bristol City – brought mixed fortunes for the striker up until 2016 when he sealed a permanent move with the Lillywhites. Robinson represented England at U16, U17, U19 and U20 levels but raised plenty of eyebrows when he declared for the Republic of Ireland in March 2018 through his late grandmother who was from Monaghan.
The striker made his senior team breakthrough in Republic of Ireland’s 2-2 draw with Celtic in Scott Brown’s testimonial match and will be hoping to prove doubters wrong and prove his motive is bigger than career opportunism.
Highlighted Team (Sheffield United):
Sheffield United are a professional football club that compete in the Championship. The Blades finished the 2016/2017 League One campaign in top position in the standings, with the team collecting exactly 100 points in the process. Sheffield United last competed in the Premier League in the 2006/2007 season and they were more than unfortunate not to secure the top flight survival.
The Blades finished the season in 18th place in the process and it has to be noted that they were level on points with Wigan Athletic, who managed to avoid the relegation to the English second tier. Sheffield United welcome their rivals at Bramal Lane, the stadium which was opened on April 30, 1855. The current capacity of the venue is 32.702.
The club have numerous rivalries, but the most notable one is the rivalry with their city neighbors Sheffield Wednesday. The two teams face each other in the Steel City derby and it has to be noted that United share rivalry with the likes of Barnsley, Rotherham United, Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United as well.
