Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Dinamo Zagreb will be aiming to build on a 3-1 win over Istra when they take on Milan in the Champions League round 8. The Croatian champions failed to shock Arsenal in round 7, but a win over Milan could see them book their spot in the knockout stages. Important attacker Bruno Petkovic remains on the sidelines with a long-term injury, but duo Pierre-Gabriel – Galesic is back from the domestic ban. The Rossoneri, on the other hand, survived Parma in their last Serie A game, with Sergio Conceicao’s men scoring two goals in the stoppage time.
Milan, though, are on a five-game winning run in the elite competition and with influential attacker Christian Pulisic overcoming his injury, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the visiting side. In their last meeting in the Croatian capital, AC Milan rolled over Dinamo Zagreb 4-0. Davide Calabria is banned for the match, while all Alessandro Florenzi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Emerson Royal, and Malick Thiaw remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Christian Pulisic):
Christian Pulisic is an American professional footballer who plays in the English Premier League with Chelsea. He then went on to feature for Michigan Rush and PA classics before being recruited by Bundesliga outfit Borrusia Dortmund in February 2015.
Impressed with the rate of his progression at their academy, BVB integrated the teenager into their first team over the winter break. On the 30th of January, 2015, Pulisic made his professional debut at the age of 17, coming on as a substitute in Dortmund's 2-0 home win against Ingolstadt in the league. He then went on to score his first professional goal three months later in a 3-0 league win over Hamburger SV. The 21-year-old is now back at Chelsea for the 19/20 season and is currently on a contract that expires in 2024. Pulisic's club career honors include winning the 16/17 DFB Pokal with Dortmund. Additionally, Pulisic initially represented the USA at the under-15 and under-17 level before getting called up to the senior squad. He made his senior debut on the 29th of March,2016, as a substitute in USA's 4-0 thumping of Guatemala in the CONCACAF World cup qualifiers.
Highlighted Team (Dinamo Zagreb):
Arguably the biggest club in Croatia and one of the most prominent football outfits in the Balkan region, Dinamo Zagreb have won 18 league titles, 11 of which came successively. Dinamo Zagreb have never been relegated to a lower tier of both Croatian and Yugoslav football.
Modri as they are called in Croatia are renowned for their impressive production line of youth footballers. Their highly organised football academy has so far produced world-class players such as Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic, Marko Pjaca and many others. Dinamo Zagreb play their home matches at the Stadion Maksimir in front of 35,000 people.
The club lacked support during the last couple of seasons due to fans’ disagreement with club management, most notably notorious Zdravko Mamic, who is under investigation for long-lasting corruption, tax evasion and embezzlement. For the first time since 2015, Dinamo Zagreb will have the full support of their most faithful supporters in the Champions League.
