Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Estadio Jose Alvalade will host Tuesday’s Champions League game between Sporting CP and Tottenham, who meet for the first time ever in the elite competition. The Lions did well to crush Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in their CL opener, with the team rolling over Portimonense 4-0 in their last league match. The hosts are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Tottenham, but, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from the game.
All Jeremiah St. Juste, Daniel Braganca, and Jovane Cabral are sidelined with injuries, while both Goncalo Inacio and Luis Neto are major doubts. Spurs, on the other hand, were not in action in the Premier League at the weekend due to the queen’s funeral, meaning that tired legs are unlikely to prove to be a big problem for the away side. Considering that Sporting are tough to beat in Lisabon, the share of spoils is on the cards. Lucas Moura should be the only absentee in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Coates):
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on October 7, 1990, Sebastian Coates is a 196-cm-tall defender who plays for Sporting CP in Primeira Liga. Coates is the product of the hometown club Nacional, and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 60 appearances for the capital club in the national championship.
After ending his spell with English club Sunderland, the Uruguay international moved to Portugal, signing a loan deal with Sporting CP in January 2016. He signed a permanent contract with the Lions in February 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Sebastian Coastes made his full Uruguay debut against Chile at the 2011 Copa America. La Celeste won the trophy, with the team beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final of the competition at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires. Coates wears the number 4 shirt at Sporting CP, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Tottenham):
Tottenham Hotspur are a professional football club based in North London. Spurs host their rivals at White Hart Lane and the capacity of the stadium is 36,284. Tottenham won the Premier League (First Division) trophy in 1950/1951 and 1960/1961 and despite producing terrific displays in the 2015/2016 campaign Mauro Pochettino’s team eventually finished the season in third place in the standings.
Tottenham’s bitter rivals are Arsenal, but Chelsea and West Ham United are regarded as the team’s fierce opponents as well. Spurs have won eight FA Cup trophies, with the team also lifting the 1962/1963 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup title.
Tottenham Hotspur hammered Atletico Madrid in the final of the competition back then (5-1). The likes of David Ginola, Sol Campbell, Teddy Sheringham, Jurgen Klinsmann, Gary Lineker, Luka Modric, Robbie Keane and Gareth Bale are star players that used to play for the White Hart Lane outfit in the past. The colour of Tottenham Hotspur’s home kit is white.
