Our prediction for this Copa del Rey match:
After recording a routine 2-0 win over Elche, Barcelona will be looking to give fans yet another reason for celebration when they take on Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey last 16. Leo Messi has served a two-match ban, and he is likely to play some part in Wednesday’s clash. The likes of Coutinho, Fati, Pique, and Roberto are all out of contention with injuries. Los Vallecanos, on the other hand, defeated Elche in the previous round of the Spanish Cup, and they are eager to claim yet another major scalp.
However, away win should be considered as Leo Messi returns to contention. Rayo experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the Segunda Division defeat to Mallorca (1-3), which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the Catalan giants. In their last meeting in a competitive match Barcelona defeated Rayo Vallecano 3-1.
Highlighted Player (Stole Dimitrievski):
Born in Kumanovo, North Macedonia, Stole Dimitrievski is a 190-cm-tall goalkeeper who plays for Segunda Division side Rayo Vallecano. Dimitrievski started his senior career at Rabotnicki, but he made no more than 18 appearances for the Macedonian outfit in the national championship. In the summer of 2012 he decided to move to Spain, signing a deal with Granada.
The towering shot-stopper made 90 appearances for Granada B, while playing no more than one game for the senior team. Following his spells with Gimnastic, Stole Dimitrievski moved to Rayo Vallecano. The Macedonian goalkeeper made his Rayo debut in La Liga in a 2-2 draw with Villarreal on November 11, 2018, while keeping his first clean sheet in a 1-0 win over Eibar later that month.
His preferred foot is right, and his contract with Rayo Vallecano should expire on June 30, 2024. Speaking of his international career, Dimitrievski made his full debut with the North Macedonia national team on November 12, 2015 in a 4-1 win over Montenegro.
Highlighted Team (Barcelona):
Barcelona is a Spanish football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia. Barca were founded in 1899 and they are regarded as one of the greatest clubs in world football. The Catalan giants won their 24th La Liga title in 2016, with Luis Suarez winning “El Pichichi” award. Barcelona have won five European Cup trophies and a number of top-class players were part of the team in the past.
The likes of Hristo Stoichkov, Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Johan Cruyff, Diego Maradona and Pep Guardiola are some of many players that played for Barca in the past, but, no doubt, Leo Messi has established himself as the club’s trademark. Barcelona welcome their rivals at Camp Nou, the stadium that was built in 1957.
Barcelona’s local rivals are Espanyol, but the rivalry between Barca and Real Madrid is much bigger. The two La Liga giants face each other in “El Clasico”, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world football. Barca are famous for their football youth school La Masia as well.
