Our prediction for this Coppa Italia match:
Torino and Frosinone go head to head in the Coppa Italia last 32 in an all-Serie A clash on Thursday evening. Il Toro quickly bounced back from a heavy 3-0 loss to Inter, with the team beating Lecce thanks to Alessandro Buongiorno’s goal, but they do not want to stop now. Ivan Juric’s troops have big ambitions for the 2023/2024 Italian Cup campaign and we are positive that they will fight tooth and nail against the Canarini.
Serbia midfielder Ivan Ilic is widely expected to return to the starting XI as well as Colombia forward Duvan Zapata, whilst all Perr Schuurs, Brandon Soppy, and Koffi Djidji remain on the sidelines with injuries. Frosinone, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-3 loss to Cagliari and given their four-game losing run against Torino, home win should be considered. Both Abdou Harroui and Sergio Kalaj are injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Duvan Zapata):
Duvan Zapata was born in Cali, Colombia on 1 April, 1991. The 186-cm-tall attacker started his youth career at America de Cali, playing for the club between 2004 and 2008. In 2008 he made his debut for the first team and three years later he scored his first hat-trick for the Colombian outfit, in a 3-2 win over Deportivo Pereira.
In 2011 he signed a loan deal with Estudiantes and he found the net for the Argentine team on his debut against Belgrano. After scoring 11 goals in 37 appearances for Estudiantes, the Colombian striker joined Napoli in 2013, but he failed to establish himself as a first-choice attacker.
On 22 July, 2015 Zapata joined fellow Serie A team Udinese on loan and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 24 league appearances for the Zebrette. Duvan Zapata has 5 caps for Colombia U20 team, but he has yet to make his debut for the senior side.
Highlighted Team (Frosinone):
Back in 1912 Frosinone were founded as Unione Sportiva Frusinate and it has to be noted that the colors of the team were originally red and blue. They were later changed to the current yellow and blue and the Canarini have been wearing those kits ever since. Frosinone made their first ever appearance in the Serie A in the 2015/2016 season, but they failed to secure the promotion.
The Canarini finished the season in 19th place in the standings, eight points behind Udinese, who eventually avoided relegation to Serie B. However, two years later Frosinone returned to the Italian top flight as they defeated Palermo 3-2 on aggregate in the play-offs final.
The club play their home games at Stadio Benito Stirpe, the stadium that was opened in 2017. The venue can hold 16,227 spectators and it is owned by the Municipality of Frosinone. The construction cost €20 million.
