Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
All eyes will be on Stade Bollaert-Delelis when Lens and Lille face each other in the Coupe de France derby on Tuesday evening. Lens are enjoying yet another successful Ligue 1 campaign, with the team sitting in 9th place after 19 rounds, and they are surely capable of matching Lille in front of home fans. Defender Facundo Medina is back from the Ligue 1 ban, while all Gael Kakuta, Wesley Said, and Deiver Machado miss out with injuries.
You should know that Les Sang et Or have suffered only one loss at home ground this season. Les Dogues, on the other hand, have slim chances of defending their Ligue 1 title, meaning that they will give 100% to go all the way in the French Cup. Since Lille are likely to adopt yet another attack-minded approach, both teams to score betting option should be considered. The likes of Yusuf Yazici, Jonathan Ikone, Timothy Weah, and Leo Jardim are injured for the away side.
Highlighted Player (Seko Fofana):
Born in Paris on May 7, 1995, Seko Fofana is a midfielder who plays for Serie A side Udinese. Fofana started his career at the youth teams of Paris FC and in 2010 he moved to Lorient. After spending four years at the club, the French footballer joined Premier League side Manchester City in the 2013/2014 season.
Despite being a Man City player from 2014 to 2016, Seko Fofana did not see any game action in the English top flight with the Citizens as he was immediately sent on loan to Fulham (2014/2015). He played for Bastia on loan in the 2015/2016 season as well and in the summer of 2016 he signed a five-year deal with Italian side Udinese.
You should know that Fofana scored five goals in 22 appearances for the Zebrette in the 2016/2017 Serie A campaign. His contract with the Serie A team should expire on June 30, 2022. Due to his dual citizenship the Udinese footballer is eligible to play for France and Ivory Coast at senior level.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
