Our prediction for this Coupe de France match:
A spot in the Coupe de France quarter-finals will be at stake when Toulouse and Guingamp take on each other at Stadium Municipal. Les Pitchouns failed to win the previous four league matches, but they are seen as hot favourites to beat Guingamp in front of home fans. Slovenia midfielder Miha Zajc should be recalled to the starting XI, while defender Charlie Cresswell is back from suspension.
The Ligue 2 side, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 1-0 loss to Paris FC at the weekend. As Toulouse defeated Guingamp 4-2 in their last meeting in a competitive match, we are tempted to place our bets on the Ligue 1 side this time out. To make things even worse for the away team, top scorer Jacques Siwe remains in the recovery room, while defender Alpha Sissoko is back from suspension.
Highlighted Player (Miha Zajc):
Born in Sempeter pri Gorici, Slovenia, Miha Zajc started his career in Interblock, recording only five appearances before moving to NK Olimpia on a loan deal. In season 2013/14, the attacking midfielder made 13 appearances in the Slovenian Prva Liga, netting 5 goas in the process.
After yet another loan deal, now with Celje, Miha Zajc moved to NK Olimpia on a permanent deal. The player can perform as an attacking midfielder and as a central midfielder. During his 81 appearances for NK Olimpia, Zajc scored 20 goals and recorded 12 assists, which was good enough for the Empoli officials to sign the 24-year-old for about €1.7 million.
In 2017/18, Zajc helped Empoli win Serie B with 8 goals and 14 assists. Thanks to his good performances, he made his debut for Slovenia national team in March 2016 and has played in 5 games so far, with one goal on his tally.
Highlighted Team (Guingamp):
En Avant de Guingamp Cotes-d’Armor are a French football club based in the commune of Guingamp. Guingamp was founded back in 1912 and it has to be noted that a number of top-class footballers played for the club in the past. The likes of Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda, Fabrice Abriel and Vincent Candela all wore Guingamp’s shirt and, no doubt, the club served them as a springboard.
Guingamp returned to the Ligue 1 in 2013 and they have been competing in the French elite division ever since. In 1996 the French team did well to win the Intertoto Cup and book their place in European competitions for the first time ever. However, Italian giants proved to be a big catch for the Ligue 1 club in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
One year later Guingamp made it to the French Cup final, but they were more than unfortunate not to lift the trophy. After playing out a draw with Nice in the regular time, the Stade de Roudourou outfit were eventually beaten by les Aiglones on penalties.
