Shamrock Rovers will look to make a historical comeback in the Conference League tie with Ferencvaros when the two teams face each other at Tallaght Stadium on Thursday evening. The Hoops will have a mountain to climb in the second leg as they need to overcome a four-goal deficit on home soil, but the hope dies last. Both Neil Farrugia and Trevor Clarke are sidelined with injuries, while veteran midfielder Ronan Finn should be recalled to the starting XI.
The Hungarians, on the other hand, were not competitive in the Champions League qualifiers, but they proved their worth in the 4-0 crushing of Shamrock in Budapest. Anyhow, the share of spoils is on the horizon in Dublin as the visitors practically booked their place in the third qualifying round. Established back in 1899, Ferencvaros are the most successful Hungarian club. The Zold Sasok clinched their 30th domestic trophy in the 2018/2019 season, but they eventually failed to book their place in the Champions League. Dinamo Zagreb proved to be a big catch for Ferencvaros in the Champions League play-offs, but the Green Eagles booked their spot in the Europa League group stages for the first time ever the same season.
