Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
After suffering a 3-1 loss to Slavia Prague in their Conference League opener, Union Berlin will be looking to record their first win of the process when they take on Maccabi Haifa at Olympiastadion in Berlin. The Bundesliga outfit head into the match following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Union Berlin, and the bookies see them as hot favourites to win Thursday’s clash. Timo Baumgartl, who limped off with injury at the weekend, is unlikely to feature against Maccabi, while fellow defender Paul Jaeckel is banned for the match.
Maccabi Haifa, on the other hand, played out a goalless draw with Feyenoord in the opening match of their Conference League campaign, but they face an uphill task in the Olympiastadion clash. Union Berlin are a real force to be reckoned with at home, and even though the game will be played at Hertha’s home ground, we are tempted to put our money on the Germans.
