Our prediction for this Europa League match:
Nantes will look to put an end to their three-game losing run in the Europa League when they host Qarabag to their Stade de la Beaujoire on Thursday evening. Les Canaris have been struggling at the back in Group G, but this game could be the turning point for the Ligue 1 outfit. There are no fresh injury worries in the home team, but all Fabio, Traore, and Guessand remain in the recovery room.
Qarabag, on the other hand, are one point away from securing their spot in the Europa League knockout stages, and they are likely to adopt a defence-minded approach against Nantes. Since the Azeri look unstoppable in the national championship at the moment, we predict that they will secure a top-two finish in Group G. Badavi Huseynov limped off with injury in a 3-0 win over Turan, with fellow defender Kevin Medina likely to replace him in the starting XI.
Highlighted Player (Alban Lafont):
Alban Lafont is a French goalkeeper who plays for Ligue 1 side Toulouse. Born in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, Lafont joined AS Lattoise youth school at the age of nine and he stayed at the academy until 2014 when he moved to Toulouse.
The 193-cm-tall goalkeeper has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper at Toulouse and it has to be noted that he made 36 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in the process. Due to his dual citizenship, Alban Lafont is eligible to represent both Burkina Faso and France on international stage, but he has yet to play for the African team.
Alban Lafont represented les Tricolores at youth level and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of the talented shoot-stopper who was born on January 23, 1999. The rising star has a contract with Toulouse which expires on June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Qarabag):
Over the years Qarabag have established themselves as one of the best teams in Azerbaijan. The club was founded in 1951 and they were playing under the name of Mehsul back then. Qarabag won their first trophy in the national championship in 1993, beating Khazar Sumgayit in the title game.
In the 2015/2016 season they won their fourth domestic trophy, with the team finishing the season 22 points clear of second-placed Zira. Qarabag participated in the 2016/2017 Champions League qualifiers, but they were more than unfortunate to suffer a loss to Viktoria Plzen in the two-legged tie. The Azerbaijan outfit were beaten by the Czechs on away goal rule and, as a result, they made it to the Europa League playoffs.
Thanks to a win over Goteborg in the double-header Qarabag made it to the knockout stages of the competition. The Horsemen play their home games at Azersun Arena and their home colours are black. Qarabag play their away games in white kits.
