Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
A spot in the FA Cup round 4 will be at stake when Reading and Burnley square off against each other at Select Car Leasing Stadium. The Royals have been in a fine form of late, winning three of their last four league matches and their fine home record is surely fuelling fans with optimism ahead of upcoming challenges. Guinea-Bissau midfielder Mamadi Camara continues to miss out with injury, but there are no fresh selection worries in the home team.
The Clarets, on the other hand, are eager to return to the Premier League, but they have big ambitions for the 2024/2025 FA Cup campaign as well. Even though there are no fresh injury worries in the away team, both Lyle Foster and John Egan are in line for a spot in the starting XI. As Burnley are likely to rely on their rock-solid defence in Saturday’s FA Cup game, we are tempted to put our money on under 2.5 goals. All Mike Tresor, Hannes Delcroix, Manuel Benson, and Aaron Ramsey continue to miss out with injuries.
Highlighted Team (Reading):
Reading FC is a professional football club that play in the Championship. The club was formed in 1871 and Madejski Stadium has been the home of Reading since 1998. The Royals used to play their home games at Elm Park in the past (1896 - 1998). Reading made it to the FA Cup semi-finals on two occasions (1927, 2015), but they have yet to win the prestigious trophy.
The likes of Robin Friday, Trevor Senior, Steve Death, Shaka Hislop, Phil Parkinson, Alf Messer, Jimmy Quinn, Michael Gilkes, Ronnie Blackman, Pavel Pogrebnyak and Martin Hicks are some of their more notable footballers. Aldershot Town were considered Reading’s fiercest rivals, but the Shots went out of business in 1992.
Seeing that Aldershot rejoined the league in 2008 it remains to be seen if the rivalry is going to be re-established in near future. Swindon Town and Oxford United are considered Reading’s big rivals as well.
