Our prediction for this World Cup 2026 match:
Independence Park will host Friday’s World Cup qualifier between Jamaica and Mexico. The Reggae Boyz did well to hold USA to a 1-1 draw in their last qualifying game, but they will have to be at their sharpest in the remainder of the process if they are to secure a top-four finish. Considering that West Ham ace Michail Antonio has received a call-up, home win should be considered.
Leon Bailey, though, continues to miss out with injury. El Tri, on the other hand, occupy 4th position in the standings ahead of the trip to Kingston. Panama are breathing down their neck, and seeing that Mexico will go for a win in Friday’s qualifier as well, we believe that both teams to score betting option should be considered. Men to watch in the away side will be Hirving Lozano (Napoli) and Raul Jimenez (Wolverhampton).
Highlighted Player (Wes Morgan):
Wes Morgan is an experienced 32-year-old defender who plays for English Premier League team Leicester City and the Jamaica national team. Morgan spent majority of his career at his boyhood club Nottingham Forest playing more than 400 games for them across 10 seasons. He was their longest-serving player when he transferred to Leicester City in 2012.
Morgan soon became the captain of Leicester City and had great success with the Foxes most notably winning the Championship title in 2014 and the Premier League title in 2016. Morgan was born and brought up in England but chose to represent his ancestral nation at international level.
He debuted for Jamaica in 2013 and was part of the teams that competed in the 2015 Copa America. He was also a successful member of the Jamaican team that finished second in the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Morgan is a tough tackling defender and is a sturdy presence at the back.
Highlighted Team (Mexico):
Football was brought below the United States border by European immigrants who build the foundations for what went on to become one of the most prominent footballing nations in the world. El Tri have qualified to the total of 15 World Cups and have become one of six nations to qualify successfully for the tournament since 1994.
Alongside Brazil and Germany, Mexico are the only country to make it past the group stage over the last six World Cups so it is fair to say that miners from Cornwall and Spanish exiles fleeing the Civil War made a pretty good job embedding the football gene. Mexico are the reigning CONCACAF champions having beaten the surprise package Jamaica 3-1 in the final. Juan Carlos Osorio’s team is captained by Rafael Marquez who is the fourth most-capped player behind Gerrardo Torrado, Pavel Pardo and Claudio Suarez.
Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez is the team’s biggest star and current squad’s top scorer with 81 goals to his name. Chicharito is only eight goals behind Jared Borgetti who is the nation’s top scorer.
