Our prediction for this League 1 match:
There will be fireworks when Bolton and Oxford United square off against each other in the League One playoffs final at Wembley Stadium. The Trotters are seen as favourites to win Saturday’s showdown, but they will have to showcase their worth on the field. Barring any fresh injury worries, Ian Evatt is unlikely to make changes to the team that eliminated Barnsley. Both Carlos Mendes Gomes and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson should miss out with injuries.
The Yellows, on the other hand, did well to eliminated Peterborough in the two-legged tie. Oxford United are likely to adopt a defence-minded approach in the decider, but preventing Bolton attackers from finding the net is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, we predict that one goal is going to separate the two teams in the Wembley Stadium clash. As for the nominal visitors, both Tyler Goodrham and Joe Bennett are major doubts after limping off with injuries in the 1-1 draw with Peterborough.
Highlighted Player (Elliott Moore):
Born in Coalville, England on March 16, 1997 Elliott Moore is an English footballer who plays for Oxford United as a centre-back. Moore has one cap with the England U18 team, while making two appearances for the England U20 team.
The 196-cm tall defender is a product of Leicester City football school, joining the club at the age of 6, but he did not enjoy a first-team football with the Foxes. He made his first appearances for Leicester City senior team on July 19, 2017 against WBA at the Asia Trophy. After spending a couple of seasons on loan at OH Leuven, Elliott Moore returned to England in the summer of 2019, signing a contract with League One side Oxford United.
Moore made his League One debut against Sunderland on August 3, 2019. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Stadium of Light in the opening match of the season, with Elliott Moore coming from the bench in the dying minutes of the game.
Highlighted Team (Bolton):
Bolton Wanderers were formed as Christ Church Football Club back in 1874 and three years later they adopted their current name. The Trotters currently compete in the Championship and they play their home games at Macron Stadium, which was opened in 1997.
Speaking of the club’s trophies, Bolton Wanderers won the FA Cup on four occasions (1923, 1926, 1929 and 1958), but they have yet to win the Premier League title. The Trotters were producing splendid displays in the 2003/2004 Premier League campaign, with the team finishing the season in eighth position in the standings, which is regarded as the club’s best result in the English top flight.
Bolton did well to reach the UEFA Cup knockout stages in the 2007/2008 season; the English outfit eliminated Atletico Madrid in the two-legged tie, but Sporting Lisbon eventually proved to be a big catch for the Trotters.
Nigeria international Jay-Jay Okocha is one of the most notable footballers who played for Bolton and he scored 14 goals in 124 appearances in the league for the club. Bury are considered the club’s fiercest rivals.
