Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Ipswich Town will look to overtake Plymouth in top position in the standings when they host Oxford United to their Portman Road on Matchday 23. The Tractor Boys suffered a 1-0 loss at Wycombe at the weekend, but it has to be noted that they failed to turn their dominance into goals. Ipswich Town are a real force to be reckoned with at home, and they are surely capable of beating the Yellows on Boxing Day.
Lee Evans has overcome his injury, while both Marcus Harness and Janoi Donacien are facing race against clock to be fit for the match. The visitors, on the other hand, did well to hold Sheffield Wednesday to a draw at Hillsborough, but given Ipswich’s fine home record, we do not believe that Karl Robinson’s troops are capable of claiming a major scalp in the festive fixture. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team.
Highlighted Player (Vaclav Hladky):
Born in Brno on November 14, 1990, Vaclav Hladky is a Czech footballer who plays for Scottish Premier League club St Mirren as a goalkeeper. Hladky spent his youth career at the likes of FC Sparta Brno, FK Sardice, and FC Zbrojovka Brno, and he continued playing for the Zbrojovka Brno reserve team at the senior level.
The 192-cm-tall shot-stopper played for the likes of MSK Breclav (loan) Sparta Brno, FK Sardice, FC Zbrojovka Brno (senior team), and Slovan Liberec before signing a contract with St Mirren. The Czech goalkeeper made his Scottish Premiership debut on January 23, 2019, in a 4-0 loss at Celtic.
Hladky played for the Czech Republic youth teams as well, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the Czech Republic senior team. Vaclav Hladky wears the No. 1 shirt at St Mirren, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Oxford United):
Oxford United are one of the oldest clubs in the League One as they were founded back in 1893. However, Oxford United adopted their current name 67 years later and have been playing under it ever since.
Over the years the Yellows have built a great rivalry with Swindon Town and there have always been fireworks in clashes between the two sides. Oxford United play home matches at Kassam Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 12,500. The stadium was built in 1997 and has been Oxford United’s home ground ever since. The Boys from Up the Hill are well known for their yellow and blue colours, but they play their away games in dark blue (with a little yellow) or black kits.
Oxford’s player with the most league appearances is John Shuker, playing 478 games for the club from 1962 to 1977. On the other hand, Jim Magilton is the club’s most capped player in internationals, playing 18 games for Northern Ireland.
