Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Derby County will be aiming to regain their spot in top six when they face Lincoln City at LNER stadium. The Rams are eyeing a quick return to the Championship, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to meet the goal. A man to watch in the away side will be pacey winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who scored his second goal of the season in a 3-2 loss to Plymouth, while both Joseph Anang and James Chester remain in the treatment room.
The Imps, on the other hand, aim to escape the danger zone, but given their anything but good form in the League One, away win should be considered. Carl Rushworth continues to miss out with injury, but there are no fresh selection worries in the home side ahead of Matchday 9.
Highlighted Player (Liam Bridcutt ):
Liam Robert Bridcutt is a professional footballer who plays for Lincoln City as a defensive midfielder. Born in Reading, England on May 8, 1989, Bridcutt is a product of the Chelsea football academy, but he did not see any game action for the Blues at senior level. After ending his loan spells with Yeovil Town, Watford, and Stockport County, the 175-cm footballer signed a five-month contract with Brighton where he established himself as a first-team regular.
After making 132 appearances in the league for the Seagulls, Liam Bridcutt moved to Sunderland in the winter of 2014. He played for the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers as well before joining Lincoln City in January, 2020.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. The Lincoln City player has a dual citizenship (Scotland/England), and it has to be noted that he has two caps with the Scotland national team.
Highlighted Team (Derby):
Derby County is one of the 12 founder members of the Football League. However, nowadays the Rams compete in the Championship and they play their home matches at Pride Park Stadium. Derby County have won the two trophies in the English top flight (1971/1972, 1974/1975), with the team lifting the FA Cup trophy just after the World War II (1946).
Derby’s main rivals are Nottingham Forest, Leicester City and Leeds United, but the rivalry between Forest and Derby is regarded as the biggest one.
The two teams take on each other in the East Midlands derby. The colour of Derby’s shirts is white, whilst their shorts are black. It has to be noted that the club was founded in 1884 by William Morley. The Rams competed in the European competitions four times, but they did not record a notable result in the European Cups. The club’s chairman is Mel Morris.
