Our prediction for this League 1 match:
LNER Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Lincoln and Shrewsbury, the two teams who sit in the opposite halves of the table. The Imps aim to build on a 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic where summer signing Dan N’Lundulu opened his goal-scoring account. The 22-year-old should continue to lead the line for Lincoln City, who are after their third home win of the process.
The Shrews, on the other hand, are a team with two faces. Steve Cotterill’s troops produce much better showings at home than on the travels, and given their three-game losing run on the road, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on the Imps. A man to watch in the away team will be Ryan Bowman, who scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Cambridge United.
Highlighted Player (Liam Bridcutt ):
Liam Robert Bridcutt is a professional footballer who plays for Lincoln City as a defensive midfielder. Born in Reading, England on May 8, 1989, Bridcutt is a product of the Chelsea football academy, but he did not see any game action for the Blues at senior level. After ending his loan spells with Yeovil Town, Watford, and Stockport County, the 175-cm footballer signed a five-month contract with Brighton where he established himself as a first-team regular.
After making 132 appearances in the league for the Seagulls, Liam Bridcutt moved to Sunderland in the winter of 2014. He played for the likes of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers as well before joining Lincoln City in January, 2020.
His main position is defensive midfield, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. The Lincoln City player has a dual citizenship (Scotland/England), and it has to be noted that he has two caps with the Scotland national team.
Highlighted Team (Shrewsbury):
Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Shrewsbury Town are a professional club that play home games at New Meadow stadium, the venue which was opened in 2007 and has the capacity of 10,361. Shrewsbury Town were founded back in 1886, with some reports indicating the club was established at the Lion Hotel.
The Blues wear blue shirts with yellow stripe and blue shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kit is purple. Mickey Brown holds the club record for most appearances as he played 190 games for the club, scoring 9 goals in the league. Both Wolverhampton and Walsall are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but there have always been fireworks in matches between Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United as well.
The two teams face each other in the “A49 derby” and it has to be noted that the Blues have built rivalries with Chester City and Wrexham as well.
