Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Shrewsbury Town will be looking to put an end to their three-match losing run in the League One when they face Reading at the Croud Meadow on Saturday afternoon. The Shrews have been struggling in front of goal of late, but this game could be the turning point for the home side. There are no fresh injury concerns in the home team ahead of the visit of Reading.
The Royals, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers. Reading, though, have suffered a loss in each of their seven away games this season, which is probably the main reason why we are going to put our money on the home team. Barring any fresh injury worries, Ruben Selles is unlikely to make changes to the team that shared the spoils with the Pirates in midweek.
Highlighted Team (Shrewsbury):
Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, Shrewsbury Town are a professional club that play home games at New Meadow stadium, the venue which was opened in 2007 and has the capacity of 10,361. Shrewsbury Town were founded back in 1886, with some reports indicating the club was established at the Lion Hotel.
The Blues wear blue shirts with yellow stripe and blue shorts when playing at home, whilst the colour of their away kit is purple. Mickey Brown holds the club record for most appearances as he played 190 games for the club, scoring 9 goals in the league. Both Wolverhampton and Walsall are regarded as the club’s fiercest rivals, but there have always been fireworks in matches between Shrewsbury Town and Hereford United as well.
The two teams face each other in the “A49 derby” and it has to be noted that the Blues have built rivalries with Chester City and Wrexham as well.
