Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Abbey Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Cambridge United and Exeter City, the two promotion-chasing sides. The U’s are leading the chase for automatic promotion, and a win over Exeter City will see them move one step closer to meeting the goal. A man to watch in the home team will be Paul Mullin, who scored his 28th goal of the season in the 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers.
Exeter City, on the other hand, aim to regain their spot in top seven, but given their three-match losing run on the road, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the league leaders. The Grecians had no more than five goal attempts in the goalless draw with Mansfield, which is yet another reason why we are going to put our money on the home team this time out.
Highlighted Player (Liam O’Neil):
Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
Highlighted Team (Exeter):
Nicknamed the Grecians, Exeter City are a professional football club that welcome their rivals at St. James Park. The stadium was opened in September 1904, and it can hold up to 8,696 spectators. Exeter City play their homes in white jerseys with red stripes, and black shorts, while violet and yellow are the dominant colours of their away kit.
The Grecians made it to the FA Cup quarter-finals on two occasions (1930/31, 1980/81), with the team advancing to the FA Trophy semis in the 2005/06 season. The likes of Harry Gee, Cliff Bastin, Maurice Setters, Dick Pym, Fred Whitlow, Arnold Mitchell, Tony Kellow, Fred Binney, Darran Rowbotham, Lee Sharp, and David Pleat are one of the most notable footballers who played for Exeter City in the past.
Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Bristol Rovers, and Yeovil Town are considered the club’s fiercest rivals. The Grecians currently compete in the League Two.
