Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Following a 2-2 draw with Crawley Town, Colchester will be aiming to escape the relegation zone when they face Stevenage in the League Two round 17. The U’s are eager to put an end to their three-game winless run, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Boro. Veteran midfielder Cole Skuse limped off with injury in the midweek clash, with Marley Marshall likely to step up.
Stevenage, on the other hand, aim to overtake Leyton in top position, and they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in Saturday’s showdown. The Boro have been producing fine displays on the road this term, and given Colchester’s anything but good home record, we predict that the promotion-chasing visitors will pick up all three points from the match. Steve Evans should have a full squad to choose from for the Colchester Community Stadium game.
Highlighted Player (Gethin Jones):
Born in Perth, Australia on October 13, 1995, Gethin Jones is a professional footballer who plays for Carlisle United in the League Two as a defender. Jones is a product of the Wrexham football school, but he played for Everton at youth level as well.
The pacey right-back made only one appearance for the Toffees as he played against Krasnodar in the Europa League 2013/2014 season. Gethin Jones played for the likes of Plymouth Argyle (loan), Barnsley (loan), Fleetwood Town, and Mansfield Town (loan) as well before joining his current club Carlisle United. Jones is eligible to play for Australia and Wales despite playing for the Wales U17, U19, and U21 teams in the past.
He made his League Two debut with Carlisle United in a 3-2 win over Stevenage on September 14, 2019. Jones’ main position is right-back, but he is used as both right midfielder and left-back as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Stevenage):
Based in Hertfordshire, England, Stevenage Borough are a professional club that compete in the League Two. The Boro are well known for their red and white home hit, while dark blue is the dominant colour of their away kit. Stevenage play their home games at Broadhall Way, the stadium which can hold up to 6,722 spectators and they were founded in 1976.
The Boro have won FA Trophy on two occasions (2006/07, 2008/09), with the team clinching the Herts Senior Cup title in the 2008/09 season thanks to a 2-1 win over Cheshunt. Luton are considered one of the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in matches between the two sides.
In 2015 fighting broke out between rival fans near to the end of the clash at the Lamex. It has to be noted that Stevenage Borough were founded in 1976 after the bankruptcy of Stevenage Athletic.
