Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Doncaster will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over Sutton and Tranmere when they take on Salford City at Eco-Power Stadium. The Donny have been showing signs of improvement of late, but they need to keep on making progress if they are to climb to the playoffs berth. Barring any fresh injury worries, Grant McCann is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the Super Whites at the weekend.
The Lions, on the other hand, played out a 2-2 draw with Swindon Town in their last league match. Salford City are level on points with Doncaster Rovers and seeing that the Donny are tough to beat at home, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. It has to be noted that the Lions defender Curtis Tilt misses out through suspension as he was sent off in the last league fixture.
Highlighted Player (Conor McAleny):
Conor McAleny is a product of Everton youth academy, joining the club from Merseyside in 2003 at the age of 11. Despite the fact that his main position is centre-forward, McAleny is used as both second striker and left winger as well. McAleny did spend his youth career at Goodison Park, but it has to be noted that he made no more than two appearances for the Toffees at senior level.
The English attacker, who was born in Whiston on August 12, 1992, made his first-team debut in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal on December, 2011. Conor McAleny played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United before signing a deal with Fleetwood Town.
The right-footed striker spent the second half of the 2018/2019 season on loan at Kilmarnock, scoring 3 goals in 11 appearances for the club in the Scottish Premier League.
Highlighted Team (Doncaster):
Based in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, Doncaster Rovers are an English football club that compete in the League One. Keepmoat Stadium is the club’s home ground. The venue was opened on August 3, 2007 and it can hold up to 15,231 spectators.
Doncaster Rovers footballers wear white shirts with red stripes and white shorts when playing on home soil, whereas the club’s away colours are dark blue and red. Speaking of the Rovers’ history, the club was established back in 1879 by Alber Jenkins, who worked as a fitter at Doncaster’s Great Northern Railway.
Doncaster Rovers shared the spoils with Rawmarsh in their first ever game. The likes of Rotherham United, Barnsley, Grimsby Town and Scuntorpe United are considered the club’s main rivals. Over the years Doncaster fans have developed a rivalry with Plymout Argule as there have been fireworks in their games. Donny Dog, that wears a red and white jersey, is the club’s mascot.
