Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Rochdale and Salford City go head to head at Spotland Stadium in a postponed League Two fixture. The Dale are desperate to escape the danger zone, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the Lions. Liam Kelly has joined the likes of Scot Quigley, Cieran Slicker, and Tahvon Campbell in the recovery room, but there are no suspended players in the home team. Meanwhile, Salford City have a chance to climb to the playoffs places, and they should take advantage of Rochdale’s poor form.
As for the away team, all Jason Lowe, Conor McAleny, Liam Shephard, and Richard Nartey are out of contention with injuries. In their last meeting in the English fourth tie two teams played out a 1-1 draw, but we are tempted to put our money on Neil Wood’s troops.
Highlighted Player (Liam Kelly):
Born in Newport Pagnell, England Liam Kelly is a right-footed midfielder who plays for Coventry City in the League One. Kelly is a product of Milton Keynes Dons football school, but he did not play for the club at senior level. The English footballer started his senior career at Scottish club Kilmarnock, but after making 100 appearances in the league for the Killie, he moved to England, signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Bristol City.
The English footballer played for the likes of Oldaham Athletic and Leyton Orient as well before joining Coventry City in the summer of 2017. His main position is central midfielder, but he is capable of playing as both defensive and right midfielder as well.
His preferred foot is right. He made his league debut with Coventry City on August 5, 2017 in a 3-0 win over Notts County, while scoring his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win over Stevenage in April, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Salford):
Founded during the Second World War (1940) as Salford Central, the League Two side play their home games at Moor Lane. The stadium, which was opened in 1978 and renovated in 2019, can hold up to 5,108 spectators. The Lions wear red jerseys and white shorts when playing in front of home fans, while white and black are the dominant colours of their away kit.
Salford City secured promotion to the League 2 at the end of the 2018/19 as they defeated Flyde 3-0 in the National League play-offs final. The match was played at Wembley Stadium, with Touray, Pergianni, and Dieseruvwe scoring for the Lions.
In the 1977/78 season Salford City won their first Manchester Premier Cup trophy, with the team repeating the success the following year. Bury are seen as the club’s main rivals, but their rivalry with the likes of Oldham and Rochdale is pretty big as well.
