Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Salford City play host to Harrogate Town to their Peninsula Stadium in the League Two round 41. The Lions were beaten by Port Vale on Tuesday, with the team dropping to 10th place in the standings. Salford, though, are still in the playoffs race, and they will give 100% to get back on course this weekend. Ashley Eastham is a major doubt, while both Matty Willock and Josh Morris are likely to miss the game with injuries.
The Sulphurites, on the other hand, have little to play for in the remainder of the season. Since Salford City want this win more than Harrogate, we predict that the visitors will return home empty-handed. You should bear in mind that the Lions emerged triumphant in six of the previous seven meetings between the two sides in all competitions.
Highlighted Player (Conor McAleny):
Conor McAleny is a product of Everton youth academy, joining the club from Merseyside in 2003 at the age of 11. Despite the fact that his main position is centre-forward, McAleny is used as both second striker and left winger as well. McAleny did spend his youth career at Goodison Park, but it has to be noted that he made no more than two appearances for the Toffees at senior level.
The English attacker, who was born in Whiston on August 12, 1992, made his first-team debut in a 1-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal on December, 2011. Conor McAleny played for the likes of Scunthorpe United, Brentford, Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Oxford United before signing a deal with Fleetwood Town.
The right-footed striker spent the second half of the 2018/2019 season on loan at Kilmarnock, scoring 3 goals in 11 appearances for the club in the Scottish Premier League.
Highlighted Team (Harrogate):
Harrogate Town is an English club that welcomes their rivals at Wetherby Road. Opened on August 28, 1920, the venue can hold up to 5,000 spectators (500 seated). The club was founded back in 1914, with the Sulphurties facing Horsforth in their first competitive match on August 30, 1919.
Harrogate Town footballers wear yellow and black shirts when playing at home, while pink is the dominant colour of their away jersey. The Sulphurties did well to win the Whitworth Cup in the 1919/20 season, while the club’s biggest success in the FA Cup came in the 2012/13 when they made it to the second round.
Simon Weaver is one of the most notable footballers who played for Harrogate Town in the past. The team’s manager for the 2020/21 season played for several English clubs, and he has been very successful in the coaching job as well.
