The hosts have been producing excellent displays of late, with the team winning four of their last five league matches, while sharing the spoils with Tranmere. With no fresh injury worries to report, head coach Dave Challinor is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated Newport County at the weekend.

Thompson started his youth career at Watford and after making 14 appearances for the Hornets at senior level, he moved to Southend United, signing a permanent deal with the club in January, 2014.
