Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Buoyed by a thrilling 4-0 win over Shrewsbury, Tranmere will be looking to keep on climbing the standings when they face Gillingham on Saturday afternoon. The Rovers impressed in their first home game of the season and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to beat the Gills on Matchday 3. A man to watch in the home team will be Omari Patrick, who produced a brilliant display at the weekend.
Gillingham, on the other hand, were in action in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening, with the team losing to AFC Wimbledon in front of home fans. As tired legs should prove to be a problem for the visiting side, we are tempted to bet on Tranmere this time out. Experienced forward Sam Vokes remains in the recovery room, alongside 21-year-old Sebastian Palmer-Houlden. In their last meeting at Prenton Park, the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.
Highlighted Team (Tranmere):

Based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, Tranmere Rovers are a professional club that compete in the League One. Tranmere were founded back in 1884 under the name of Belmont FC, with the football arms of cricket clubs Lyndhurst Wanderers and Belmont coming together. The club recorded their first win later in 1884 as they outclassed Brunswick Rovers 4-0.
Nowadays Tranmere Rovers play their home games at Prenton Park, the venue which can hold up to 15,567 people. The Rovers wear white shirts and blue shorts in home matches, but back in the 19th century orange and red were the dominating colours on their kit.
Tranmere fans see Bolton Wanderers as the club’s main rivals, but they have built a small rivalry with Chester City and Everton as well. The Prenton Park outfit did well to make it to the League Cup final in the 1993/1994 season, but Aston Villa proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
