Our prediction for this League 2 match:
Tranmere and Salford square off against each other at Prenton Park in what is expected to be a close League Two encounter. The Super Whites produced their best display of the season in a 3-0 win over Harrogate and, no doubt, they are high on confidence ahead of Saturday’s clash. Ian Dawes is likely to repeat the same started XI that faced the Sulphurites as the 60-year-old tactician has no fresh injury concerns.
The Lions, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Grimsby and seeing that Tranmere do not suit them, home win should be considered. In their last meeting in the League Two Tranmere defeated Salford thanks to Kieron Morris’ goal and we predict that history is going to repeat itself. To make things even more complicated for the visiting team, important midfielder Ossama Ashley serves a one-game ban in round 4.
Highlighted Player (Jordan Turnbull):
Born in Trowbridge, England, on October 30, 1994, Jordan Turnbull is a professional footballer who plays for Northampton Town as a defender. Turnbull is a product of Swindon Town football academy, but in 2007 he was spotted by Southampton scouts.
Despite signing a professional contract with Southampton, he did not see any game action with the Saints at senior level. The English footballer made no fewer than 86 league appearances for Swindon Town during his loan spell with the Robins, and in 2016 he signed a contract with Coventry City.
Jordan Turnbull spent the 2017/2018 on loan Partick Thistle before joining Northampton Town permanently. Speaking of his international career, the Northampton centre-back has two caps with the England U19 team, and one cap with the England U20. Jordan Turnbull, who is used as a left-back as well, wears the number 6 jersey at Northampton Town. His preferred foot is left.
Highlighted Team (Salford):
Founded during the Second World War (1940) as Salford Central, the League Two side play their home games at Moor Lane. The stadium, which was opened in 1978 and renovated in 2019, can hold up to 5,108 spectators. The Lions wear red jerseys and white shorts when playing in front of home fans, while white and black are the dominant colours of their away kit.
Salford City secured promotion to the League 2 at the end of the 2018/19 as they defeated Flyde 3-0 in the National League play-offs final. The match was played at Wembley Stadium, with Touray, Pergianni, and Dieseruvwe scoring for the Lions.
In the 1977/78 season Salford City won their first Manchester Premier Cup trophy, with the team repeating the success the following year. Bury are seen as the club’s main rivals, but their rivalry with the likes of Oldham and Rochdale is pretty big as well.
