Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
All eyes will be on Parc Olympique Lyonnais when Bordeaux and PSG go head to head at Parc Olympique Lyonnais in the Ligue 1 round 28. Les Girondins do not seem to be at their sharpest ahead of the midweek clash, with the team failing to win the previous six league fixtures. Since Bordeaux failed to impress in a 2-1 loss to Metz, we do not believe that they are capable of matching the reigning champions behind closed doors.
Both Loris Benito and Yacine Adil return from suspension, while Dilane Bakwa, Toma Basic, and Otavio remain sidelined with injuries. Les Parisiens, on the other hand, quickly bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Monaco, with the team rolling over Dijon 4-0 in their last league match. The title holders aim to overtake Lille in top position in the standings, and even though Neymar remains in the recovery room, away win should be considered. Leandro Paredes is back from suspension for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Mexer):
Edson Andre Sitoe “Mexer”, who was born in Maputo, Mozambique on September 8, 1988, began his senior career at Desportivo Maputo and he scored three goals in 97 appearances for the club. Mexer played for his home-town club from 2006 to 2010 and in the winter of 2010 he joined Portuguese side Sporting for a fee of €173,000.
The Mozambique centre-back was quickly loaned to Olhanense and it has to be noted that he made 39 appearances for the Primeira Liga club in the league. In 2012 he was sold to fellow Portuguese outfit Nacional and after playing 57 league games for the club, Mexer moved to France. The 187-cm-tall footballer signed a contract with Rennes in January, 2014 and he has been playing for les Rouges et Noirs ever since.
Mexer made his debut for Mozambique national team in 2007 and he represented Os Mambas at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations. He scored his first goal for Mozambique in a 5-0 win over South Sudan in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Highlighted Team (PSG):
Formed by the merger of Paris FC and Stade Saint-Germain in 1970, Paris Saint-Germain or as they call it PSG is the most successful club in French football with 31 domestic titles to their name. Having won six Ligue 1 title so far, a record ten Coupes de France, a record six Coupes de la Ligue, six Trophees des Champions and one Ligue 2 title, PSG are also one of only two French clubs to ever win a European title.
Les Parisiens were crowned UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup champions back in 1995-96, while their last European trophy was the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Beginning of the new millennium was particularly hard for the celebrated club who flirted with relegation in 2000s before they were bought by the Quatar Sports Investments group in 2011 when the rebirth of the Paris Saint-Germain as we know it today began.
Following heavy squad investments and team boosting, PSG won their first Ligue 1 title in 19 years with Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost singlehandedly leading his side towards the trophy with 30 goals. Having established domestic dominance, PSG now set their sights on winning the Champions League which remains an elusive dream for the club from Paris.
