Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade Francis-Le Ble will host Wednesday’s Ligue 1 game between Brest and Lille, the two teams with entirely different ambitions for the remainder of the season. Brest are desperate to secure top flight survival, while Lille aim to represent France in European competitions for yet another term. Romain Del Castillo limped off with injury in a 1-0 loss to Monaco, with Jeremy Le Douaron likely to step up.
There are no other selection worries in the home team. Les Dogues, on the other hand, are undefeated in the previous four league fixtures. Lille want to keep their Champions League hopes alive, and seeing that Brest suffered a dip in form, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the visiting side. All Jose Fonte, Jonathan Bamba, and Gabriel Gudmundsson are out of contention with injuries for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (Steve Mounié):
Steve Mounie is a Beninese footballer who plays for Huddersfield Town as a striker. Mounie is a product of Montpellier youth academy and, as a result, he was given a chance to prove his worth in the blue and orange shirt in Ligue 1 at senior level.
After scoring 14 goals in 37 appearances for la Paillade in the French elite division, the 190-cm-tall attacker moved to Huddersfield Town in 2017, but it has to be noted that he spent the 2015/2016 season at Nimes as a loan player. Steve Mounie signed a four-year deal with the Terriers and he made his competitive debut for the club on August 12, 2017, scoring a brace in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The attacker who was born in Parakou (Benin) on September 29, 1994 will represent the Benin national team at the 2019 Africa Cup of nations. Mounie scored his first ever goal for the national team in a 2-1 win over South Sudan in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
