Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Olympique Marseille will be aiming to make amends for an embarrassing loss to Canet Roussilon in the Coupe de France when they take on Brest in the Ligue 1 round 29. New boss Jorge Sampaoli is eager to help the team improve their game, but given OM’s display in the French Cup defeat, we do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the home side.
Arkadiusz Milik, who was the only bright start in the defeat to Canet Roussilon, will be the man to watch in the home team. Both Alvaro and Sakai return from suspension. Brest, on the other hand, did well to beat Dijon in their last league match, and they are surely capable of matching the out-of-sorts OM at Stade Velodrome. A close encounter is on the cards, and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw.
Highlighted Player (Florian Thauvin):
Born in Orleans, France on January 26, 1993, Florian Thauvan is a pacey winger who plays for Olympique Marseille. After spending his youth career at Ingre, Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, Orleans and Grenoble, Thauvin made his senior debut with Grenoble in 2011.
The French footballer played for the likes of Bastia and Olympique Marseille in his homeland as well before joining Newcastle United in 2015. Even though many people expected that he would shine in the Premier League, Florian Thauvin was playing below expectations with the Magpies and, as a result, he returned to Olympique Marseille in 2016. Thauvin spend the 2016/2017 season on loan at the Stade Velodrome outfit and the deal was made permanent in the summer of 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Florian Thauvin scored seven goals in ten appearances for France U21 team, while making his debut for the senior squad in a 5-0 win over Paraguay in June, 2017. Thauvin’s main position is right winger, but he is capable of playing as both left winger and attacking midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Brest):
Founded in 1950, Brest (Stade Brestois) are a French football club that compete in the Ligue 1. La Team Pirate welcome their opponents at Stade Francis-Le Ble, the venue which was opened back in 1922. The capacity of the stadium is 15,931, but on August 8, 1986 21,619 watched the game between Brest and Olympique Marseille.
The club’s home colours are red and white, with the team wearing black kit when playing on the travels. Brest’s third kit is white. La Team Pirate, who made it to the French Cup on two occasions (1982/83 and 2014/15), have rivalries with fellow clubs from Bretagne: Rennes, Lorient, Nantes, Guingamp and Vannes.
The likes of Bernard Lama Stephane Guivarch, Paul le Guen, David Ginola and Frank Ribbery are the most notable footballers who played for the club. Bayern Munchen legend Frank Ribery scored 3 goals in 35 appearances for Brest in the national championship.
