Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
All eyes will be on Stade Velodrome when Olympique Marseille and Lille take on each other in the Ligue 1 derby on Saturday evening. OM were not in action at the weekend as their clash with Lyon was postponed, meaning that tired legs should not prove to be a big problem for the home side. Both Leonardo Balerdi and Pape Gueye are banned for the match, while all Azzedine Ounahi, Francois Mughe, and Pau Lopez miss out with injuries.
Les Dogues, on the other hand, are eyeing their fourth consecutive win in all competitions. Lille have a chance to climb to the Champions League berth, but beating Marseille at Stade Velodrome is easier said than accomplished. Taking everything into account, we predict that the two sides are going to share the spoils in the round 11 clash. Paulo Fonseca has a full squad to choose from except for forward Arnar Haraldsson.
Highlighted Player (Valentin Rongier):
Valentin Rongier is a French footballer, who plays for Ligue 1 side Nantes as a defensive midfielder. Rongier, who was born on December 7, 1994 in Macon (France) scored two goals in 39 appearances for Nantes B from 2013 to 2015 and he made his Ligue 1 debut with Les Canaris on October 18, 2014 in a 1-1 draw with Stade de Reims.
It has to be noted that he replaced Lucas Deaux 15 minutes before the final whistle. Over the years Valentin Rongier has established himself as a first-team regular at Nantes and you should know that he made no less than 31 appearances for the club in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign.
On June 25, 2015 he extended his deal with the La Beaujoir-Louis Fonteneau outfit and his contract should expire on June 30, 2020. Valentin Rongier’s main position is defensive midfielder, but he is used as a central midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Lille):
Lille have been playing an important role in French football ever since they were founded in 1944. Les Dogues won their first domestic trophy in the 1945/1946 season.
Lille did well to win their second Ligue 1 title in 1954 and 57 years later they lifted their last domestic title. Les Douges finished the 2010/2011 season in top position in the standings, eight points clear of second-placed Olympique Marseille and it has to be noted that Lille attacker Moussa Sow won the Golden Boot (25 goals).
Lille are one of the two teams that managed to win three consecutive Coupe de France trophies (1946, 1947, 1948), but they have yet to clinch the Coupe de la Ligue title. Les Dogues faced PSG in the 2015/2016 Coupe de la Ligue trophy, but les Parisiens proved to be a big catch for Frederic Antonetti’s team in the title game.
Lille play their home matches at Stade Pierre-Mauroy and the capacity of the stadium is 50.186. The venue was opened in August, 2017 and the construction cost €282 million.
