Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
St Etienne will be aiming to build on a 2-0 win over Rennes when they take on Reims at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in the Ligue 1 round 26. Les Verts quickly bounced back from the Coupe de France defeat to Sochaux, with the team regaining a much-needed confidence. St Etienne are eyeing their third consecutive win in the French top flight, and we predict that they will give fans yet another reason for celebration on Saturday.
All Romain Hamouma, Alpha Sissoko, Panagiotis Retsos, and Yvann Macon are likely to miss the game with injuries for the hosts. Reims, on the other hand, failed to win the previous three league fixtures. Even though Yunis Abdelhamid is the only absentee in the away team, we believe that there is a big value in betting on les Verts. In the first half of the season Reims defeated St Etienne 3-1, meaning that the hosts are hungry for revenge.
Highlighted Player (Ryad Boudebouz):
Despite being born in Colmar, France on February 19, 1990 Ryad Boudebouz represents Algeria on the international stage. The Montpellier midfielder played for both France U17 and France U19 teams in the past, but he made his senior debut with Algeria on May 28, 2010 in a friendly against Republic of Ireland.
Speaking of his club career, Boudebouz played for Colmar and Sochaux at youth level and he continued playing for Sochaux first team. After scoring 24 goals in 164 appearances in the league for the club, he moved to Bastia in 2013 and he played 66 games for les Bleus.
Ryad Boudebouz played for the Corsican side from 2013 to 2015 and he signed a four-year deal with Montpellier and you should know that he netted 11 goals in 33 appearances for la Paillade in the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 campaign. His main position is attacking midfield, but he is capable of playing at both left and right winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
