Our prediction for this MLS match:
Colorado Rapids play host to New England Revolution at their Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in a highly-anticipated MLS game. The Rapids are on a five-game losing run in all competitions, with the team obviously struggling at the back. Given their poor displays in back-to-back defeats to Minnesota United (0-3) and Real Salt Lake (0-2), home win should not be considered. To make things even worse for the home side, both Max Alves and Lalas Abubakar are banned for the match.
The Revs, on the other hand, head into Sunday’s clash following back-to-back draws with Austin (2-2) and Minnesota United (1-1). Considering that Colorado are tough to beat at home, we predict that the visitors are going to pick up one point from Sunday’s encounter as well. All Vaclik, Bou, Bye, Kessler, Borrero, and Maciel are out of contention with injuries, speaking of the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Diego Rubio):
Diego Rubio is a Chilean attacker who signed his first professional deal with Colo-Colo. Rubio, though, made only eight league appearances (scoring three goals) for the Chilean outfit and in 2011 he moved to Europe, signing a deal with Primeira Liga team Sporting Lisbon. After playing only 11 league matches for the Lions, the 179-cm tall striker joined Spanish club Valladolid at the age of 22.
It has to be noted that during his spell with Sporting Lisbon he was loaned to the likes of Pandurii Targu Kiu and Sandnes Ulf. On September 1, 2016 Diego Rubio signed a permanent teal with Sporting Kansas City and he has been playing for the MLS club ever since.
Rubio was born on May 15, 1993 in Santiago, the capital of Chile, and he made his debut for the Chilean national football team in June, 2011 against Paraguay. His contract with Sporting Kansas City expires on June 30, 2017.
Highlighted Team (New England Revolution):
Unlike famous NFL club New England Patriots, the Revolution have yet to win the domestic trophy. New England participated five times in the MLS Cup final, but they were more than fortunate not to lift the silverware. The Revs played their last final in 2014, with the team losing to LA Galaxy in the title game at StubHub Center. New England Revolution, though, clinched the North American SuperLiga trophy in 2008 and that is considered as the club’s biggest success.
It has to be noted that the Revs defeated Houston Dynamo on penalties in the final of the tournament. New England Revolution were founded in 1994 and Gillette Stadium is the home ground of the club. Legendary defender Alexi Lalas played for the Revolution (1996-1997) and he scored three goals for the Gillette Stadium outfit. Fellow USA ace Clint Dempsey was part of the team as well and you should know that he netted 25 goals in 71 league appearances for the club.
