Our prediction for this MLS match:
Saputo Stadium will host Sunday’s MLS game between Montreal and Toronto, the two teams who are level on points in the standings. The hosts have been producing excellent displays of late, with the team eyeing their fourth consecutive league win and you should know that they managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last three MLS games. Joel Waterman is banned for the match, while all Toye, Vilsaint, Piette, Kwizera, and Pantemis remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The Reds, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to New England Revolution, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the home side. All Shane ONeill, Jordan Perruzza, Jonathan Osorio, Cristian Gutierrez, Victor Vazquez, and Michael Bradley are out of contention with injuries, speaking for the visiting team. In their last meeting in the Canadian derby Montreal defeated Toronto 2-1.
Highlighted Player (Victor Wanyama):
Over the years Victory Wanyama has established himself as one of the best Kenyan footballers. Wanyama started his senior career at Belgian club Beerschot and after scoring 2 goals in 51 appearances in the league for de Ratten, he moved to Celtic in 2011.
The defensive midfielder, who is very strong in the tackle, decided to leave the Hoops in 2013, signing a deal with Premier League side Southampton for a fee of £12.5 million.During his spell at St. Mary’s Stadium Victory Wanyama established himself as a first-team regular at Southampton and thanks to his thrilling displays with the Saints, Tottenham Hotspur chiefs made a tempting offer for the Kenya international.
In 2016 Wanyama signed a four-year deal with the capital club and he has been playing for Spurs ever since. The Tottenham midfielder was born in Nairobi on June 25, 1991 and he made his international debut for the Kenya national team in a friendly against Nigeria in May, 2007.
Highlighted Team (Toronto FC):
Toronto is a club based in Canada, but they have been competing in Major League Soccer since 2007. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment own both the soccer club and National Hockey League’s Toronto Maple Leafs. BMO Field is the club’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 30.000.
The Canadian outfit impressed in the 2016 MLS Cup and they faced Seattle Sounders in the title game at BMO Field. However, the Canadians were more than unfortunate not to lift the silverware as they were beaten by the Sounders on penalties.
Speaking of the Canadian Championship, Toronto FC won their fifth domestic title in 2016, with the team beating Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the tournament. Montreal Impact are considered the club’s biggest rivals and there have always been fireworks in meetings between the two Canadian sides. Toronto FC’s home kit is red and it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Reds. It has to be noted that the club was founded back in 2005.
