Our prediction for this MLS match:
There will be fireworks when local rivals New York City and New York Red Bulls face each other for the second time in just four days. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena in midweek, with the Red Bulls scoring the equalizer late in the stoppage time. Since New York City head into Sunday’s showdown with a severely-weakened squad, we predict that the visitors are going to grab something from the local derby.
Midfielder Aaron Long should be the only absentee in the away team. The Blue Pigeons, on the other hand, will be without suspended duo Chanot – Parks in the New York derby, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on draw. In their last meeting at the venue New York City rolled over New York Red Bulls 5-2.
Highlighted Player (Alexandru Mitrita):
Italian Serie A is a Romanian footballer who is well known for his height. The 199-cm attacking midfielder, who is capable of playing as a winger as well, was born in Craiova on February 8, 1995 and he started his youth career at Turnu Severin.
In 2012 he moved to fellow Romanian club Viitorul Constanta and in 2015 he signed a deal with Italian side Pescara. After scoring 2 goals in 34 appearances for the Dolphins, he returned to Romania, signing a contract with Universitatea Craiova. Alexandru Mitrita was on New York City’s radar during the 2017/2018 season and seeing that he scored 18 goals in the national championship, the chiefs of the MLS club decided to sign him in 2019.
The Romanian footballer made his MLS soccer debut in a 2-2 draw with Orlando City, but he failed to find the net. Alexandru Mitrita’s preferred foot is right, but he often plays as a left winger.
Highlighted Team (New York Red Bulls):
New York Red Bulls is the first club from New York City to join Major League Soccer. In 2006 the club was sold to Red Bull GmbH and, as a result, they are nicknamed the Red Bulls. New York welcome their rivals at Red Bull Arena and the team’s home colors are white and red.
On the other hand, the Red Bulls wear dark blue shirts and yellow shorts on the road. In 2008 New York Red Bulls made it to the MLS Cup final, but they were not capable of matching Columbus Crew (1-3) in the Home Depot Center clash. A number of top-class footballers were part of the team in the past, but former Arsenal forward Thierry Henry is the synonym of the club.
Henry scored 51 goals in 122 league games for New York Red Bulls from 2010 to 2014 and it has to be noted that he scored his first MLS hat-trick in a 5-2 victory over Montreal Impact on March 31, 2012. The likes of Youri Djorkaeff, Lothar Matthaus, Roberto Donadoni, Rafael Marquez, Juninho and Tim Cahill played for the club in the past as well.
