Our prediction for this MLS match:
Exploria Stadium will host Thursday’s MLS game between Orlando City and Philadelphia Union, the two teams who sit in the playoffs berth. The Lions aim to recover from a 3-1 loss to New England Revolution and they are likely to fight tooth and nail against the U’s. Keep in mind, though, that all Adam Grinwis, Abdi Salim, and Gaston Gonzalez are out of contention through injuries.
Philadelphia Union, on the other hand, suffered a 2-1 loss to San Jose Earthquakes before the international break. Considering that the U’s have already suffered four defeats on the road this term, we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing more than one point from the midweek clash. As for the away team, both Damion Lowe and Alejandro Bedoya are out of contention through injuries, while Venezuela international Jose Martinez is back from suspension.
Highlighted Player (Andre Blake):
Andre Blake is a Jamaican goalkeeper who plays for MLS club Philadelphia Union. Blake was born in May Pen, Jamaica, on November 21, 1990, but he went to the UConn college in United States of America. The 193-cm-tall shoot-stopper spent three years playing college football and in 2014 he signed a professional contract with Philadelphia Union.
Andre Blake made his debut for the U in July 2014 in a friendly game against Crystal Palace and he played his first MLS match against Montreal Impact. Speaking of his international career, the goalkeeper made his Jamaica debut on March 2, 2014 in a 2-0 victory over Barbados. Later that year Andre Blake won the Caribbean Cup with the Reggae Boyz as they defeated Trinidad and Tobago on penalties in the title game.
Over the years Blake has established himself as a first-team regular and, no doubt, there is a bright future ahead of him. The Philadelphia Union shoot-stopper wears the number 18 on his shirt.
Highlighted Team (Orlando City):
Orlando City are a member of the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer. The Lions have been participating in the major league since 2015 and they host their rivals at Orlando City Stadium. The venue was opened in February, 2017 and the construction of the stadium cost $155 million. Orlando City finished the 2015 MLS season in seventh place in the Eastern Conference and they failed to make it to the play-offs in the 2016 season as well (8th place).
Brazilian ace Kaka is undisputedly the club’s most famous player and the former Real Madrid and Milan man became the highest-paid player in MLS history. His base salary was $6.6 million per year and it has to be noted that the Brazilian superstar found the net on his Orlando City debut against FC Dallas (friendly). Orlando City’s home kit is violet, while they wear white and violet shirts and white socks on the travels. The club’s official mascot is Kingston the Lion.
