Our prediction for this MLS match:
San Diego FC will be aiming to extend their excellent run of form when they take on Portland Timbers at Snapdragon Stadium. The new MLS franchise have been flying high of late, recording three straight wins in the league to cement their spot at the top of the Western Conference. With confidence sky-high and the crowd behind them, San Diego will be eager to retain first place. Head coach Miguel Herrera cannot count on Alvarado, Kumado, Reyes, Sisniega, and Verhoeven, but the absentees were not sorely missed in the recent 2-1 victory over San Jose Earthquakes.
Portland, on the other hand, head into the match low on confidence after suffering back-to-back defeats to Dallas and Cincinnati. The Timbers have been far from their best lately, and their defence has looked shaky in the process. Jonathan Rodriguez is the only absentee for the visiting side, but given their recent dip in form, that is unlikely to make much difference. Taking everything into account, there is a big value in betting on the home team.
