Seattle Sounders will look to extend their strong home form when they face Los Angeles Galaxy in front of their own fans. The Rave Green sit comfortably in fourth place in the Western Conference and aim to keep their momentum as the postseason approaches. Despite dealing with injuries to key players such as Arriola, Hawkins, Joao Paulo, Kent, and Morris, Seattle have shown plenty of depth, and their home performances have been particularly convincing this term.
The Galaxy, on the other hand, have endured a campaign to forget, rooted to the bottom of the table with no chance of securing a playoff berth. Their defensive lapses and lack of attacking firepower have left them vulnerable throughout the season, and with Matheus Nascimento also sidelined, the visitors travel with limited options. Given Seattle’s consistency at Lumen Field and the fact that they still have something tangible to play for, everything points towards another successful outing for the hosts. The club won the 2016 MLS Cup, with the team beating Toronto FC on penalties in the trophy game at BMO Field. Swiss goalkeeper Stefan Frei won the MVP honor after pulling off several brilliant saves in the 2016 MLS Cup final.
Winning of the MLS Cup is undisputedly the club’s biggest success, but it has to be noted that the Sounders clinched the Supporters’ Shield trophy in 2014. Seattle hold rivalry with Portland Timbers, but Vancouver Whitecaps are regarded as the club’s bitter rivals as well.
