Our prediction for this MLS match:
Sparkles will be flying when Toronto and Vancouver lock horns in the Canadian derby. Toronto are having a season to forget, with the team collecting only 22 points in total to date, but a 3-1 win over Philadelphia surely gave them a confidence boost. A man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Italy star Lorenzo Insigne, who found the net in the last league match, while all Sean Johnson, Gregory Ranjitsingh, Cristian Gutierrez, and Adama Diomande remain in the recovery room.
The Caps, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both Portland Timbers and Chicago Fire, while sharing the spoils with New York City in their last league match. Anyhow, a lively contest is on the cards as both sides are eager to pick up all three points from the Canadian derby. Thomas Hasal and Luis Martins should be the only absentees in the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Lorenzo Insigne):
Born in Frattamaggiore, Naples on June 4, 1991, Lorenzo Insigne is an Italian footballer who plays for his hometown club Napoli in the Serie A. Insigne is a product of Olimpia Sant’Arpino football school, but he joined the Partenopei at the age of 15.
The diminutive attacker scored his first ever goal in the Italian top flight on September 16, 2012 in a 3-1 win over Parma. Insigne, who played for the likes of Cavese, Foggia and Pescara on loan before returning to Naples, made his debut with the Italian national team on September 11, 2012 in the World Cup qualifier against Malta.
The Napoli forward scored his first ever goal for the Azzurri in a friendly against Argentina on August 14, 2013. His main position is left winger, but he is used as a second striker as well. Lorenzo Insigne has a contract with Napoli until June 30, 2022.
Highlighted Team (Vancouver Whitecaps):
Vancouver Whitecaps are yet another Canadian side that compete in Major League Soccer. Vancouver began play in the USA top flight in 2011 and one year later they became the first Canadian outfit to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs. However, star-studded Los Angeles Galaxy proved to be a big catch for the Whitecaps in the knockout round. Vancouver, though, did remarkably well to win the Canadian Championship in 2015, with the team beating Montreal Impact in the title game.
In 2016 they made it to the final of the tournament as well, but Toronto FC eventually won the trophy. The Whitecaps are owned by Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and Steve Steve Nash, the former NBA star, and they play their home matches at BC Place. Speaking of MLS games, the capacity of the venue is 22.120 and you should know that the stadium was opened back in 1983. The Caps wear white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, while the colour of their away kit is blue.
