Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
De Adelaarshorst will host Sunday’s Eredivisie game between G.A. Eagles and Zwolle, the two teams who sit in the relegation zone ahead of day 5. G.A. Eagles have already suffered three defeats in the new season, but the game against Zwolle could be the turning point for the newcomers. Summer signing Inigo Cordoba, who found the net on his Eredivisie debut in a 5-2 loss to Cambuur, is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while both Sam Crowther and Frank Ross remain in the recovery room.
Zwolle, on the other hand, made a slow start to the season, with the team losing each of their first three league fixtures. The rock-bottom side are low on spirits ahead of the trip to Deventer, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. Defender Sai van Wermeskerken is a major doubt, and he will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (Thomas Lam):
Thomas Lam is a footballer who can play as both centre back and defensive midfielder. Lam was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 18 December, 1993, but seeing that his mother is Finnish, he was eligible to play for the Finland national team.
After making 11 appearances for the Finland U21 team, he made his debut for the senior team on 9 June, 2015, in a friendly against Estonia. He started the game, but the Finns suffered a 2-0 loss to the Estonians in Turku. Speaking of his club career, Thomas Lam played for AZ Alkmaar between 2011 and 2014 and then he joined fellow Eredivisie side Zwolle.
The 188-cm-tall footballer scored four goals in 64 appearances for the club and in July 2016 he signed a contract with Nottingham Forest. Lam won the KVNB Cup with AZ Alkmaar in 2013 and he was named Promising Player of the Year in 2011. His agent is world-famous Mino Raiola and his contract with Forest expires on 30 June, 2018.
Highlighted Team (Zwolle):
Founded on June 12, 1910, PEC Zwolle is a Dutch football club which competes in the Eredivisie. Zwolle have yet to win the national championship, but they did remarkably well to lift the Dutch Cup trophy in 2014. Ron Jans’s troops impressed in the title game, with the team rolling over Dutch giants Ajax 5-1.
The Blauwingers play their home games at MACPARK Stadion, the venue with the capacity of 14,000 people. The multi-use stadium was opened on August 29, 2009. Zwolle’s home kit is blue and white, while the colour of their away jersey is green and white. In the 2014/15 season the Blauwingers represented the Netherlands in the Europa League, with the team losing to Sparta Prague in the play-off round.
The likes of Henk Timmer (237), Johan Hansma (231), Bert Konterman (219), Arne Slot (208), and Jasper Drost (182) are the players with the most league appearances for the club. Go Ahead Eagles are considered the club’s biggest rivals as both teams are located at the river Ijssel.
