Groningen
Gofferstadion will host Sunday’s Eredivisie clash between NEC Nijmegen and Groningen, the two teams who sit in the opposite halve of the table. NEC have been performing above expectations in the new Eredivisie campaign, and thanks to a 2-1 win at Twente they climbed to 8th place in the standings. The newcomers are high on spirits ahead of the visit of Groningen, but this match will be anything but a walk in the park for the home side.
All Magnus Mattsson, Mathias De Wolf, and Rens Van Eijden are likely to miss the game with injuries. The Green and White Army, on the other hand, did well to beat AZ Alkmaar 2-0 at the weekend, with the team escaping the relegation zone. Groningen aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, but beating NEC on the road is easier said than done. Taking everything into account, we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. Both Mike Te Wierik and Radinio Balker are rated doubtful for the visiting team.

Sergio Padt is a Dutch footballer who plays for Eredivisie club Groningen as a goalkeeper. Padt played for the likes of Pancratius, Hoofddorp, and Ajax during his youth career, but he did not see any game action with the Amsterdammers at senior level.
Following short loan spells with the likes of Haarlem and Go Ahead Eagles, Sergio Padt signed a deal with Belgian outfit Gent in June, 2011. After making 55 appearances for the club in the Belgian top flight, the Dutch shot-stopper joined Groningen in the summer of 2014. Sergio Padt did remarkably well to win the KNVB Cup with the Green-White Army in the 2014/15 season, with the team beating PEC Zwolle in the title game.
The Groningen goalkeeper, who was born on June 6, 1990, has five caps for the Netherlands U-21 team. Speaking of his senior career, he received two call-ups for the national team, but has yet to make his debut.

The Trots van het Noorden (Pride of the North) are well known for their white home shirts with red stripes, while purple is the dominant colour of their away kit. Volendam are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, but they have a rivalry with Twente as well after the 1980s incidents between their fans. Groningen have yet to win the Eredivisie trophy, but they did well to go all the way in the Dutch Cup in the 2014/15 season.
The green and whites defeated Zwolle 2-0 in the title game. Speaking of their European success, it has to be noted that Groningen participated in the Europa League on two occasions. In the 2015/16 season the Trots van het Noorden booked their place in the group stages of the competition, but they failed to record a win in the process.
