Sunday’s matinee at Stadion Galgenwaard pits together Utrecht and PSV, the two sides who are leading the chase for the trophy. PSV aim to retain top position in the standings, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for Peter Bosz’s troops. Ricardo Pepi is pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after scoring the winner as a substitute in a come-from-behind victory over Shakhtar Donetsk. The likes of Couhaib Driouech, Adamo Nagalo, Jerdy Schouten, and Joey Veerman remain on the sidelines with injuries.
Utrecht, on the other hand, are on a three-game winning run in the Eredivisie. Considering that Ron Jans’ troops are tough to beat at home, we believe that the time has come for PSV to drop some points. Silas Andersen is banned for the hosts, while fellow midfielder Can Bozdogan remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

The 26-year-old Dutch striker Luuk de Jong is considered one of Europe’s deadliest strikers with his incredible return of goals in games he spends playing. Luuk de Jong began his football career at De Graafschap in 2008, but moved on to Twente only a year later.
The tally of 39 goals in 76 league appearances earned him a transfer to Borussia Monchengladbach, but his spell in Germany ended in disappointment. Bundesliga club attempted to revive his career by sending him out on loan to Newcastle United but his stint with the English club yielded even more disappointment and concluded in utter disaster with De Jong playing 12 games without scoring a single goal for the Magpies.
A return to Netherlands and PSV Eindhoven turned out to be a proper hit for the 26-year-old striker who has restored his scoring touch with more than 50 goals for the Boeren after less than 90 games.

Established on July 1, 1970, Utrecht is a Dutch club that competes in the Eredivisie. The club was founded as a merger of VV DOS, USV Elinkwijk, and Velox, and it has to be noted that VV DOS did well to win the Eredivisie trophy back in 1958.
Utrecht, on the other hand, have yet to win the national championship, but they have lifted three KNVB Cup trophies (1984/85, 2002/03, 2003/04). Leo van Veen is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart with 153 goals. Speaking of the club’s colours, they were white and red shirts when playing at home, while blue is the dominant colour of their away jersey.
Due to the hooligan clashes, Utrecht have a rivalry with Dutch giants Ajax. The games between the two clubs have always been very tense on the field. Utrecht welcome their rivals at Stadion Galgenwaard, the venue which can hold up to 23,750 people. The stadium was opened back in May 1936.
