Our prediction for this Netherlands Eredivisie match:
Utrecht will be aiming to build on a 2-1 win over Heerenveen when they host Willem II to their Stadion Galgenwaard on Sunday afternoon. Utrecht quickly bounced back from a heavy 5-1 loss to AZ Alkmaar, with the team regaining a much-needed confidence. Rene Hake’s troops are eyeing their third consecutive win at home ground, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play.
The Tricolores, on the other hand, head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Fortuna Sittard. Willem II failed to win the previous three league fixtures, and given Utrecht’s fine home record, we predict that the visitors are going to return to Tilburg empty-handed. In their last meeting at the venue Utrecht defeated Willem II 3-2, and we predict that the history is going to repeat itself. Defender Derrick Arthur Kohn is back from suspension for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Willem Janssen):
After starting his senior career at VVV-Venlo, Willem Janssen joined fellow Dutch club Roda JC in 2007. The 186-cm-tall centre-back scored 22 goals in 129 appearances for the Black and Yellows in the Eredivisie, and in 2011 he moved to Twente.
After ending his loan spell with Utrecht in 2014, he signed a permanent deal with the Stadion Galgenwaard outfit, and he has been playing for the club ever since. He scored his first league goal for Utrecht in a 1-1 draw with Zwolle on September 1, 2013. Willem Janseen was born in Nijmegen, Netherlands on July 4, 1986, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the national team. Janssen, though, has two caps with the Netherlands U21 team.
His main position is centre-back, but he is used as both defensive midfielder and central midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right. In the 2015/16 season he helped Utrecht make it to the Dutch Cup final, but Feyenoord proved to be a big catch for them in the title game.
Highlighted Team (Willem II):
Based in Tilburg, Netherlands, Willem II is a professional football club that competes in the Eredivisie. The Tricolores were founded back in August 1896 under the name of Tilburgia, but the club’s first big success came in the 1915/16 season when they won the national championship.
Willem II repeated the success in the 1951/52 Eredivisie campaign, with the team winning their third domestic trophy three years later. When it comes to KNVB Cup, the Tricolores have won it on two occasions (1943/44, 1962/63). Willem II are well known for their white shirts with red and blue strips, while their away kit is mainly mint with dark navy accents.
The Tricolores play home matches at Koning Willem II Stadion, the venue with the capacity of 14,700 spectators. Willem II have fierce rivals in Nac Breda, as the cities of Breda and Tilburg are only 20 kilometers apart. Former Barcelona and Arsenal star Marc Overmars is one of the most notable footballers who played for the club.
