Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Maritimo will be looking to extend their winning run to four games when they take on Gil Vicente in the Primeira Liga round 31. Maritimo are on the right track to secure the Primeira Liga survival, but they can’t afford any complacency in the season finale. Talented Colombia international Moises Mosquera remains on the sidelines through injury. Gil Vicente, on the other hand, are three points clear of the relegation zone.
Ricardo Soares’ troops collected only one point in total from the previous three league fixtures, but their Primeira Liga status is not yet in danger. Anyhow, share of spoils is on the cards at Estadio dos Barreiros as both teams should be happy with one point from the match. Attacker Pedro Marques, who suffered an injury in the goalless draw with Farense, is unlikely to feature against Maritimo.
Highlighted Player (Charles):
Charles Marcelo da Silva is a Brazilian goalkeeper who plays for Primeira Liga side Maritimo. Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on February 4, 1994, Charles started his youth career at Cruzeiro, and in 2014 he moved to fellow Brazilian club Vasco da Gama.
After making nine appearances in the Brazilian top flight for the Vasco da Gama senior team, Charles was loaned to Maritimo in 2015. In 2016 the 185-cm-tall shot-stopper signed a permanent deal with the Portuguese outfit. Charles Marcelo da Silva has 14 caps with the Brazil U17 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the Brazil senior team.
He made his Maritimo debut in the Portuguese top flight on January 15, 2017, in a 3-1 win over Pacos de Ferreira. Charles managed to keep seven clean sheets in 21 appearances for Maritimo in the 2018/2019 Primeira Liga season. His preferred foot is right, and he wears the number 94 jersey.
Highlighted Team (Gil Vicente):
Founded in 1924, Gil Vicente are a Portuguese football club that compete in Primeira Liga. The Galos (Roosters) are well known for their red kit, but they wear white shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
Gil Vicente have yet to win a domestic trophy, but they did well to make it to the Taca da Liga final in the 2011/2012 season. The Galos suffered a 2-1 loss to Benfica in the title game at Estadio Cidade de Coimbra. The likes of Rodrigo and Saviola scored for Benfica, with Ze Luis finding the net for Gil Vicente.
The Galos welcome their rivals at Estadio Cidade de Barcelos, the stadium which can hold up to 12,504 people. The venue was opened on May 30, 2014 and it can hold up to 12,504 people. It has to be noted that the team first secured promotion to the Portuguese elite division in 1990.
