Moreirense play host to Alverca at their Parque Joaquim de Almeida Freitas in the opening match of their Primeira Liga campaign. Moreirense are seen as hot favourites to win Sunday’s clash, but they will have to prove their worth against the newly-promoted side. It has to be noted that Os Verdes e Brancos have won each of their last three warm-up games. Custodio Castro’s troops, on the other hand, aim to recover from a 3-2 loss to Casa Pia in their last pre-season friendly.
Moreirense, though, are a more experienced side than Alverca and we predict that the hosts are going to emerge triumphant in Sunday’s encounter. To make things even worse for the away team, top scorer Anthony Carter has joined fellow Primeira Liga side Santa Clara in the summer transfer window. Moreirense wear green and white shirts and white shorts when playing at home, whilst black and red are the dominant colours of their away kit. In the 2016/2017 season Os verdes e brancos did well to win the Taca da Liga trophy, with the team beating Braga 1-0 in the title game.
