Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
After outplaying Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 in their Champions League opener, Porto will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they take on Gil Vicente on Matchday 6. The Dragons are eager to climb to top position and we are positive that they will go all-out attack against Os Galos. Brazil forward Pepe is back from the Champions League ban, while all Evanilson, Danny Namaso, Ivan Marcano, and Gabriel Veron are out of contention with injuries.
The visitors, on the other hand, have been scoring goals for fun at home ground this season, but given their difficulties on the road, we do not believe that the underdogs are capable of spoiling Porto’s party at Estadio do Dragao. Last time out Gil Vicente shocked Porto at the venue, meaning that the title-chasing hosts are hungry for revenge. The visitors will be without goalkeeper Stanislav Kritsyuk and forward Ali Alipour in Saturday’s showdown.
Highlighted Player (Toni Martinez):
Born in Barrio del Progreso, Spain, on June 30, 1997, Toni Martinez is a forward who plays for Primeira Liga side Famalicao. Martinez is a product of Real Murcia football school, but in 2013 he moved to Valencia youth academy.
After scoring two goals in 16 appearances for Valencia B, the Spaniard signed a deal with West Ham United in April 2016 for a fee of around £2.4 million. However, he did not see any game action in the Premier League with the Hammers as he was immediately sent on loan to Oxford United.
Toni Martinez played for the likes of Real Valladolid, Rayo Majadahonda, and Lugo on loan as well before signing a three-year deal with Famalicao in the summer of 2019. He made his debut with the Azuis e Brancos on August 3, 2019, in a 2-0 home defeat to Covilha in the Taca da Portugal. Toni Martinez has two caps with the Spain U19 team.
Highlighted Team (Gil Vicente):
Founded in 1924, Gil Vicente are a Portuguese football club that compete in Primeira Liga. The Galos (Roosters) are well known for their red kit, but they wear white shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
Gil Vicente have yet to win a domestic trophy, but they did well to make it to the Taca da Liga final in the 2011/2012 season. The Galos suffered a 2-1 loss to Benfica in the title game at Estadio Cidade de Coimbra. The likes of Rodrigo and Saviola scored for Benfica, with Ze Luis finding the net for Gil Vicente.
The Galos welcome their rivals at Estadio Cidade de Barcelos, the stadium which can hold up to 12,504 people. The venue was opened on May 30, 2014 and it can hold up to 12,504 people. It has to be noted that the team first secured promotion to the Portuguese elite division in 1990.
