Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Sporting CP will look to bounce back from a heart-breaking Champions League loss to Eintracht Frankfurt when they face Vitoria Guimaraes on Matchday 12. The Lions suffered a 1-0 loss to Arouca at the weekend, and, as a result, their title hopes seem to be ruined. Nuno Santos suffered an injury in the Champions League defeat, with Matheus Reis likely to step up. All Braganca, Morita, and Neto are sidelined with injuries for the home team.
Guimaraes, on the other hand, are eyeing their fourth consecutive league win, and given their attacking potential, over 2.5 goals betting option should be considered. In their last encounter in the Portuguese top flight Sporting defeated Guimaraes 3-1, and yet another high-scoring affair is on the cards. Sporting back-line should have Nelson Luz at bay as the Angola international scored a brace in a 3-2 win over Famalicao.
Highlighted Player (Sebastian Coates):
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, on October 7, 1990, Sebastian Coates is a 196-cm-tall defender who plays for Sporting CP in Primeira Liga. Coates is the product of the hometown club Nacional, and it has to be noted that he scored eight goals in 60 appearances for the capital club in the national championship.
After ending his spell with English club Sunderland, the Uruguay international moved to Portugal, signing a loan deal with Sporting CP in January 2016. He signed a permanent contract with the Lions in February 2017.
Speaking of his international career, Sebastian Coastes made his full Uruguay debut against Chile at the 2011 Copa America. La Celeste won the trophy, with the team beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final of the competition at Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti in Buenos Aires. Coates wears the number 4 shirt at Sporting CP, and his preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Guimaraes):
Vitoria Guimaraes have always been in the shadow of famous Portuguese sides Porto, Benfica and Sporting, but over the years they have established themselves as a top-table side in the Primeira Liga. Os Vimaranenses did well to win Taca de Portugal in the 2012/2013 season, wi the team beating Benfica in the final of the domestic cup.
Vitoria Guimaraes finished the 2016/2017 Primeira Liga campaign in fourth place in the standings and, as a result, they booked their place in the Europa League qualifiers. The Portuguese side will face the likes of Salzburg, Konyaspor and Olympic Marseille in Group I and they are seen as underdogs in their group. Vitoria Guimaraes welcome their rivals at Estadio D. Alfonso Henriques and the venue can hold up to 30.000 spectators.
Os Vimaranenses play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, whilst they wear black when playing on the road. Their neighbours Braga are considered Guimaraes’ fiercest rivals and the two teams face each other in the derby of Minho Province.
