Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Estadio Joao Cardoso will host Sunday’s football game between Tondela and Gil Vicente, the two teams who are fighting hard to secure the Primeira Liga survival. Tondela suffered three defeats in the previous four league fixtures, with the team experiencing all sorts of problems at the back in a 4-2 loss to Braga. The Yellow-Greens produce much better showings at home than on the travels, which is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Gil Vicente.
The Roosters, on the other hand, gave fans some cheer at the weekend, with the team beating Santa Clara thanks to Pedrinho’s late penalty. Gil Vicente, though, have already suffered six defeats on the road this season, which is the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the hosts. Tondela boss Pako Ayestaran should have a full squad to choose from.
Highlighted Player (Jhon Murillo):
Jhon Murillo is a Venezuela international who was born in El Nula on November 21, 1995. After spending his youth career at San Camilo and Alto Apure, Murillo started playing for Zamora at the senior level.
The Venezuelan forward scored 19 goals in 59 appearances for el Blanquinegro before joining the famous Portuguese club Benfica. However, Murillo did not see any game action at Benfica in Primeira Liga as he was immediately sent on loan to Tondela. After ending his loan spell with the Auriverdes, Jhon Murillo signed a loan deal with Turkish club Kasimpasa in the 2017/2018 season.
In 2018 he returned to Tondela, signing a permanent contract with the Portuguese outfit. Speaking of his international career, the Tondela winger made his Venezuela debut on February 11, 2015, in a friendly against Honduras, scoring the winner on his debut. His primary position is left winger, but he is capable of producing excellent performances as a centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Gil Vicente):
Founded in 1924, Gil Vicente are a Portuguese football club that compete in Primeira Liga. The Galos (Roosters) are well known for their red kit, but they wear white shirts and blue shorts when playing on the travels.
Gil Vicente have yet to win a domestic trophy, but they did well to make it to the Taca da Liga final in the 2011/2012 season. The Galos suffered a 2-1 loss to Benfica in the title game at Estadio Cidade de Coimbra. The likes of Rodrigo and Saviola scored for Benfica, with Ze Luis finding the net for Gil Vicente.
The Galos welcome their rivals at Estadio Cidade de Barcelos, the stadium which can hold up to 12,504 people. The venue was opened on May 30, 2014 and it can hold up to 12,504 people. It has to be noted that the team first secured promotion to the Portuguese elite division in 1990.
