Our prediction for this Portugal Primeira Liga match:
Tondela and Porto face each other at Estadio Joao Cardoso in what is expected to be a close Primeira Liga encounter. The Yellow-Greens did well to beat Vitoria Guimaraes on the road in their last league match, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry against the title-chasing Dragons. A man to watch in the home team will be Mario Gonzalez, who scored a brace at the weekend. The good news for the hosts is that midfielder Salvador Agra returns from suspension.
Porto, on the other hand, showed character in a 2-1 win over Santa Clara, with Martinez Toni scoring the winner in the 5th minute of the stoppage time. Sergio Conceicao’s men, though, head into the match following the Champions League encounter with Chelsea, which is the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on draw. Both Taremi and Sergio Oliveira return from the Champions League ban, while Diogo Costa has been tested positive for coronavirus.
Highlighted Player (Jhon Murillo):
Jhon Murillo is a Venezuela international who was born in El Nula on November 21, 1995. After spending his youth career at San Camilo and Alto Apure, Murillo started playing for Zamora at the senior level.
The Venezuelan forward scored 19 goals in 59 appearances for el Blanquinegro before joining the famous Portuguese club Benfica. However, Murillo did not see any game action at Benfica in Primeira Liga as he was immediately sent on loan to Tondela. After ending his loan spell with the Auriverdes, Jhon Murillo signed a loan deal with Turkish club Kasimpasa in the 2017/2018 season.
In 2018 he returned to Tondela, signing a permanent contract with the Portuguese outfit. Speaking of his international career, the Tondela winger made his Venezuela debut on February 11, 2015, in a friendly against Honduras, scoring the winner on his debut. His primary position is left winger, but he is capable of producing excellent performances as a centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Porto):
Futebol Clube do Porto are one of Portugal’s biggest football clubs playing their matches in front of 50,000 people at their Estadio do Dragao. Porto form biggest rivalries with two other Big Three clubs in Portugal and regular league title contenders – Benfica and Sporting CP. Rivalries between the clubs stem from the historical, political, economical and cultural discrepancies between the cities of Porto and Lisbon. The Dragons, as they are commonly known in Portugal, are the second most successful Portuguese team with a total of 74 trophies to their name.
Porto hold a record of five consecutive league titles which are part of the total tally of 27 Primeira Liga trophies. FC Porto’s success extends to the international scene as well with seven European titles. Two-time European champions from 1987 and 2004, Porto also won two UEFA Cup/Europa League titles, the UEFA Super Cup and the International Cup on two occasions. Together with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United, Porto have the most appearances in the UEFA Champions League group stage – the total of 20.
